Brian Johnson is the valuxian foster father of the Barker's and Bennett's as well as the husband to Sophie Johnson.

Appearance[]

In his human form Brian is a tall slim man, with brown eyes and brown hair. On some occasions he likes to cross-dress, and on one occasion grew himself breasts. He has taken the appearance of other humans, but always returns to his primary human form which is based off Uncle Brian.

If the cartoon intro to the series is correct, Brian was a light green blob-like creature, with one large green eye and two antennas. Although seen with four-fingered hands, the dialogue within the show suggests that Valuxians have large tentacles.

Personality[]

Brian is the most clueless out of both Brian and Sophie. He is always desperate to please and make friends (especially with Josh's friends) but is seemingly unaware of how awkward it is. His neediness causes annoyance to the others which means they would dismiss him.

Despite his friendly demeanor he can be quite ruthless in his methods, especially when he sticks CJ's tongue in a vice as punishment for trying to steal his chocolate.

Regardless of his silly nature, he is still a brilliant scientist. Brian is also academically a genius as shown when he morphs into Josh in, Testing Times and achieves the highest score on the test that the school has ever had. Despite Brian's academic genius he clearly lacks in common sense.

Although it's unknown what the rules or culture is like on the planet Valux, especially when it comes to relationships or sex, Brian seems to have possible homosexual traits, and also loves to cross dress. He also seems attracted to male human beings, most notably Trent Clements whom he wanted to settle down with, and also kissed Mr. Whiteside. Brian does not understand the differences between human males and females, as shown in Beauty and the Breast: Part I and confuses Mel for a boy on several occasions. Although he is shown as being passionate with Sophie, which would make Brian bisexual at least as far as earthlings would go by.

Relationships[]

Sophie Johnson-Sophie is Brians partner and later wife when they get married, in the series 3 episode, 'The Wedding. Although the two of them will frequently bicker, they share a deep unbreakable bond. Sophie will usually go along with Brian's crazy antics and appears to be in admiration of most things he does, despite how stupid they may be. However Sophie will frequently stand up to Brian and threaten him with divorce when he does something wrong such as in Textual Relations.

Josh Barker-Despite an often rocky relationship, Brian always tries to do the best for Josh and frequently attempts to impress him. Brian's attempts to help Josh often end in disaster, but Josh knows that Brian means well. As Josh gets older, Brian is disappointed that he no longer wants to play with him and instead CJ takes his place. Despite this on more than one occasion Brian has still managed to convince Josh to play with him, much to his complete embarrassment.

Mel Barker-Similar to Josh, Mel and Brian have an often rocky relationship with Mel's teenage outbursts and Brians comedic antics often leading to confrontation. However, Mel cares deeply about Brian and the two share a close father and daughter bond, as shown by Brian's devastation when Mel leaves to study in Canada in The Trouble With Harry.

Lucy Barker-Lucy is the closest to Brian out of the Barker children due to their shared love of science and chess. The two of them schedule chemistry and chess nights much to the annoyance of the rest of the family. Brian is proud of Lucy's academic success and often gives himself far too much credit for her achievements. Despite their close relationship, Brian selfishness and wrong doings can often lead to frustrations between the two of them, but Lucy always takes the time to explain things to both Brian and Sophie.

CJ-Brian is CJ's idol and he always wants to play with him. CJ becomes Brian's sidekick in his crazy schemes and usually goes along with whatever Brian has planned. Brian often takes advantage of CJ's affection and CJ often finds himself on the bad end of Brian's schemes. In Le Freak C'est Chic Brian accidentally breaks CJ's leg and buries him in the garden and in A Choco-Lips Now he sticks CJ's tongue in a vice after he catches him eating chocolate. CJ often feels overlooked by Brian as he appears to show more affection towards Josh, despite Josh not reciprocating Brian's affections.
