My Parents Are Alien 2

Lucy Barker (far right) as she appeared in Series 7 with her family.

Her above average intelligence means she often bonds with Brian, who has an excellent scientific knowledge, despite a lack of common sense, and they often play chess or conduct chemistry experiments.(Enter the Duck, The Invosibibble Mam) Lucy loves animals, especially ponies(The Holiday, Just My Luck) and dogs, like when she found Denis and made him better as a nurse

better! (It's a Dog's Life)

Her best friend is Wendy Richardson, who is equally intelligent and shares Lucy's goal to become an astronaut. Lucy and Wendy are not very popular, due to their scientific interests.(When Swaps Go Bad, Worst Aid) She is very honest and moral and is often the one to set her foster parents straight in regards to Earth matters and issues. (Hot Gossip)

She easily sees through Mel and Josh's tough acts and voices their true feelings accurately. However, she sometimes lacks a sense of adventure and can be somewhat uptight and controlling. (Operation Date) Despite these traits, she is the most kind and caring character. (Million Dollar Harry).

Lucy leaves for Canada with her Aunt Sophie and Uncle Brian in Thanks For All The Earthworm Custard along with her siblings, Josh, Mel, Harry and CJ went back to Mrs Reese in another episode only a few members came back in Wheels of Misfortune part 2.

Lucy

Lucy in series 6

Series 1[]

In the first series, Lucy is 9. She bonds with Sophie and Brian over playing astronauts (jumping on the bed) in the first episode. She is delighted to have her, Josh and Mel altogether (unlike previously when they had been with separate families) and loves having an actual family. In the second episode, she feels invisible and joins Wendy's team for the quiz. However she can't bring herself to beat her family in the finals despite knowing the answer. Mel invites her into the winners photo. Lucy and Mel's relationship is explored in the first season - Lucy quite often worries about Mel - in the first episode that she's skipping school and then in the third episode that she has stolen a Walkman. Lucy goes as far to leave the Walkman back into the store to try to make sure Mel won't get in trouble. In the process, she gets caught and accused of stealing until Mel admits she didn't actually steal the Walkman, she bought it herself and shows the receipt as proof.

Series 2[]

In the second series, Lucy celebrates her 10th birthday in the episode 'The Family Way.' Mel is instrumental in keeping this a surprise, once again showing how much she cares for her younger sister.

Series 3[]

Lucy develops new hobbies of magic and karate in this series.

Series 4[]

In series 4, Lucy has got braces. This was a result of Charlotte Francis actually have braces at the time. At the end of the season Wendy relocates to Birmingham for a couple of months, leaving Lucy without a best friend. She befriends and then competes with Poppy during Wendy's absence.

Series 5[]

Lucy becomes captain of the chess team in Big Mother.

Series 6[]

In Series 6, Lucy is no longer the youngest member of the family as CJ is adopted by Brian and Sophie in the first episode.

Series 7[]

Lucy is initially very sad that Mel has left for Canada (The Trouble with Harry) as Sophie quips "You're unusually upbeat today especially considering how upset you were yesterday." Lucy does however sleep better since Mel's snoring has been keeping her up for the last "10 years" and she begins to enjoy having the room to herself. When Wendy asks her later in the episode how she is finding the house without Mel, Lucy replies that she is mixed as they've always had a strong bond, she misses Mel's protective big sister instinct to look after her and talking to her about her problems.

After rejecting CJ's offer to move in (because he's a boy), Lucy doesn't have the room to herself for long as Harry moves in. Harry realises though that having to share the room isn't the main problem, Lucy doesn't want her to replace Mel. After opening up to Lucy about losing her little sister, mum and dad in a fire while Harry was at a sleepover and reflecting that could be the reason for why she's so bossy, Lucy and her start to bond. At the end of the episode Lucy declares "Harry is a part of our family now. She's my new sister."

Lucy's first and only love interest is introduced in Neighbours from Hell. A new boy Luke becomes her next door neighbour and Lucy becomes love struck upon seeing him in her class. He also shares a high intellect and the two go on a date at the end of the episode.

At the end of the series Lucy leaves for Canada with Mel, Josh, CJ and Harry with Uncle Brian and Aunt Sophie.

Series 8[]

Relationships with other characters[]

Mel[]

Lucy's relationship with Mel is a strong throughout the whole series. Lucy looks up to her as a big sister but also sees through her tough exterior and voices Mel's true feelings.

"One minute Mel wants to be with us and then flip, she pushes us away." - Sophie

"That's what's she's like." Lucy (smiling)

- The Date

Likewise, Mel's softer side is shown in her relationship with Lucy, being protective of her. Quite often Lucy will shout for Mel if Brian is doing something silly/dangerous or she needs help (Enter the Duck).

Fittingly, when Mel starts to get suspicious of Brian and Sophie after realising their aunt and uncle aren't in Canada and they look exactly like the aliens, she rings Lucy first (Thanks For All The Earthworm Custard).

Brian[]

Lucy bonds with Brian in the early series due to them both having superior intellect. They do many science activities together as well as Lucy's themed nights e.g. Science night, Puzzle night. Brian is quite attached to Lucy and in Enter the Duck becomes very upset that Lucy has started Karate and has abandoned Puzzle night for it, declaring "Lucy doesn't love me anymore". He starts cheering her on but is even more devastated when she has to leave for a competition in Paris for 10 days.

Sophie[]

Originally Lucy is closer with Brian. This even forms part the plot for Enter the Duck where Sophie tries to enlist Mel and Trent as friends after feeling witnessing a science night where Lucy and Brian are having fun. However as Lucy gets older (by about Season 5), her and Sophie bond more and more including Sophie going to after school Maths with her (Educating Sophie), going swimming with her in The Tail of the Knitted Map and when putting her family for sale, list Lucy as the most valuable (Dirty Dancing). This is confirmed in season 6 when CJ becomes Brian's sidekick and Lucy and Sophie are paired together more for the remaining seasons. When Sophie is confused about an earth concept, Lucy is usually the one to explain it to her including, photography (Snappy Families), stress (A Choco-Lips Now), gossip (Hot Gossip), business and slave labour (Sophie Ltd.).

In the final episode of Series 7, Lucy tells Sophie that "With the exception of your foul cooking, you're the best mum we could have ever had." The two later share an emotional goodbye when Lucy remarks the episode's title "Thanks for all the Earthworm Custard" and embrace.

Wendy[]

Wendy is Lucy's best friend throughout the 7 series. Out of all of the character's best friends, Wendy appears in the least amount of episodes. She is a lot geekier than Lucy despite not being as intelligent and throughout the series, they have multiple fall outs usually due to Lucy having more of a moral compass than Wendy. Even still, Lucy is extremely loyal to Wendy, giving up chances to be popular to still be Wendy's friend.

Poppy[]

In addition to being a rival of Josh, Poppy sometimes appears as an ally of Lucy and sometimes a rival. In Poppy's first appearance (Beauty and the Breast: Part I), she gives Lucy a space video game. While Wendy is in Birmingham, Poppy appears in a more prominent role. First in The Musical and then in Brian of the Brownies. In The Musical, Lucy and Poppy (along with the other girls in the class) start to hang out in the diner. Once Brian dominates the musical and turns it into all about him, Lucy doesn't want the lead. Initially, Poppy agrees but when Brian offers her the opportunity to be the lead she turns on Lucy and accepts it. Lucy's morality and sense of right and wrong clashes with Poppy who quite enjoys scheming and competing with Lucy. She is of a similar age to Lucy.
